Hello everyone from FCS! - from your czech fan |

Hello everyone from FCS (and please could you give my message to With Eyes like ours, too? ;)
At the very beginning, I should probably say who I am, so you know who’s talking ;)
So: my name is Veronika Czesana and I’m from Prague, Czech republic. Next thing I should mention might be that you don’t need to torture your memory trying to figure out where do you know me from, because you DON’T know me :) But I know you, and let me tell you the story of my “journey” to you, cuz it sure wasn’t an easy one :)
Alright.. About a week ago I was browsing youtube trying to find some inspiration for a little acapella vocal group I just recently helped to form at my Uni (I’m a postgraduate student at the University of Economics, Prague). I was looking for some videos of acapella arrangements of couple Beach Boys songs, who I’m a big fan of (as well as of the Beatles, Motown and pretty much everything from the 60’s).. and that’s how I coincidentaly found the Fendertones. I was completely blown away. All the recordings were awesome.. almost better than the originals.. Of course the whole thing was unbelievably good, but especially the vocals - Good Lord, just superfantastic! I watched all of the videos many many (maybe toooo many) times :) and just really totally fell in love with it. Of course I went to the Fendertones website rightaway, but honestly, I’ve never seen a website with less information than that one :) It just told me it’s “a group of musician friends and family” and that was it. And other than that official webpage – no concrete info about Fendertones found on Google whatsoever, just couple comments by other people, all pretty much with the same questions as I had: “WHO are these guys?? Where are thy from??”
Well – for somebody that had developed an addiction to all the Fendertones videos, that just really wasn’t enough to feed the hunger for info. I had to go through the complete lines of pages of all the Fendertones videos’ comments on youtube to luckily find one saying “These guys are from Bryn Athyn”. So I was like yabadabadoo :) First “footprint” in the sand..
So I read all the info on Wikipedia about Bryn Athyn including the fact that there’s a Bryn Athyn college in the town as well, so I thought checking out the college webpage could be a good idea cuz majority of the Fendertones singers seemed to be of college age. However, internal search at the college website found no results for “the Fendertones” so I was losing hope.. But then in the “Arts and athletics - Music” section I found a link to “Bryn Athyn college rocks”..I din’t really even know what I was looking for, but I was just browsing the pictures posted there in hope to find some familiar faces.. and to my own surprise I afterall really did – in the older events.. it was easy to recognize the two Fendertones lead singers, and luckily for me, there were names under each picture, so that’s how I got Anders and Chad. Once I knew the names, I hoped to find some more info on google. Thank god you guys have such unique names cuz if you were something like John Smith and David Johnson instead, I would have probably never found you :))
Well, whereas majority of hits on Chad’s name led on some politics related discussions (quite praiseworthy hobby, Chad, but not exactly that kind of info I was looking for at that moment :) But Anders’ name led me straight to his myspace webpage, where unfortunately wasn’t much written, but then I noticed the link to his band and I really enjoyed what I heard there.. Three songs on the page weren’t much, but still enough for me to love their music. Then I noticed that all the gig-posters always featured Fresh cut salads as another band playing.. And after going through the pictures posted on FCS myspace, I realized Chad’s in this great band..as well as Reade whom I later recognized back on the Fendertones videos as well. (and of course I later realized that all of you guys were also already on the pictures at Bryn Athyn Rocks gigs, but the first time I was on that site, I only really knew the faces of Chad and Anders..)
Well, I listened to everything I could both on the official website of yours and on youtube..and then I even bought your CD on CDbaby.. and what to say..? You guys are just really REALLY great. And the music videos – my goodness, certainly ones of the best ones I’ve ever seen..! ;)
Hope that after reading this little detective story of mine, you won’t think I’m some kind of creap :))
I just wanted to tell you that I really like what you guys do – ALL of it – Fendertones, With eyes like ours and Fresh cut salads.. You are all crazily talented musicians... I really enjoy your music and wish I could see you guys live some day, but that will probably remain a wish. But who knows..maybe you’ll decide to do a European tour some day ;)
[Wooooops!!!] this turned out to be such a long letter, but I just really had to let you know how much trouble does a fan have to go through to reach you :) (well, of course I guess I could have just sent an e-mail to the Fendertones webpage instead or to the person that posted the Fendertones videos on youtube in the first place, and simply ASK... but that wouldn't have been this much fun :)
A really odd thing happened to me while on this quest for ” the Fendertones guys” – because I spent quite some time searching..and then when I found you, all of you had quite a lot of info and pictures posted on net, so I got to know quite a lot about you.. like Chad having a crazily cute little baby.. Reade taking part in that Aimee Mann contest (you definitely should have won, Reade ;) , Anders getting married this summer (what a cute couple they are, congratulations ;) and so on..
Well, so I somehow got the impression as if I’ve known you for some time already, as if I belonged to that community around you, although we’ve never met.. (strange :)
Soooo.. if you guys find some time to maybe send couple of lines back to your (maybe FIRST?) European fan, that would be great ;) (well, I’m pretty sure I’m probably the only one from Czech, right? :))
You can find me on Facebook as well, so if you guys want to, please feel free to search me and add me as a friend. Well, I already have quite some friends in Ohio, because 8 years ago, I spent a year there on highschool as a foreign exchange student.. so why not have some more friends in Pennsylvania too..? :) What do I know, maybe I’ll sometimes get to the Philly area too, cuz I fly to US once in couple years for a visit and I always do a little travelling around..
Anyways – as a little contribution into your “stop not playing with your food” pictures collection, I made a vegetable greeting from Prague for you, so I hope you like it ;)
Hope to hear from you sometime.. and lookin forward to hearing your next music-projects..
Much love from Czech,
Veronika
PS: hope you'll forgive me all those probably terrible misspellings and stuff.. my English is not really in a good shape right now :(
